Please stop saying, “I just run 5Ks.”

Please stop saying, “I just run 5Ks.”
There is no *just* about it.
If you run 5Ks… that’s awesome.
If you run 10Ks… that’s awesome.
If you run a couple miles a few mornings each week… that’s awesome.
You’re moving. You’re investing in your health. You’re doing something that millions of people wish they had the discipline to do.
There was a time in my life when I couldn’t run to the mailbox. After my accident, a 5K didn’t feel small—it felt impossible.
So when I hear someone apologize for “only” running a 5K, I want to remind them that they’re looking up the ladder instead of looking back at how far they’ve already climbed.
Comparison steals joy.
Be proud of your finish line, whether it’s one mile, a 5K, a marathon, or 100 miles.
The distance doesn’t define you.
Showing up does.
