Completed: Ultra Rookie Year

Over my first year of running Ultra-marathons, I completed two 50Ks, one 50-miler, one 100K and the 4x4x48 Challenge. Bring on 2022!

Yesterday marks one year since my first Ultra-marathon (at 46 years old).  Over the year, I’ve completed two 50k’s, one 50 miler, one 100k and the 4x4x48 challenge.  Most importantly, lots of new running buddies along the way.

I am blessed to have made it this far. Doctors told me marathon running was no longer a possibility after 2018’s car accident, let alone running in Ultras. Ultra marathons were impossible to them, but I had another plan. I worked hard for 30 months to make a full recovery. DDP Yoga and cryotherapy made the recovery possible.

I’m in the best shape of my life despite the injury. This 46-year old dude has one goal for 2022: 100-mile ultra marathon.

Don’t wait for motivation to get started. Motivation is temporary. Motivation disappears when life gets tough or we look for excuses. Instead, build consistent effort until it turns into discipline. Without discipline, we make excuses, but discipline doesn’t care if you’re tired or had a bad day. Discipline is liberating.

Go get it.
