Pivotal Moments
This restaurant captured my attention this evening as I traveled to my gate at the Atlanta airport. Life presents us with moments where a pivotal event occurs, shaping our future. I took a moment to pause and offer a quick prayer of gratitude for a conversation that took place in this restaurant in February 2020.
In December 2019, a former boss called me to discuss a potential job opportunity. At the time, I wasn’t interested, as I had recently made plans to bring iCRYO to Wichita. After several months of conversation, we decided to meet for lunch at “One Flew South” in the Atlanta airport. Our conversation lasted for over 4 hours, but on my flight home, I was certain I would not accept the position.
As months passed and the world changed in the Spring of 2020, I remained committed to moving forward with iCRYO and had plans to leave my then job. Around that time, my financing plan for iCRYO fell apart, and a former colleague encouraged me to reconsider the job my former boss was offering. He, being a successful entrepreneur, provided me with solid advice. I went home, prayed about the job, and felt an immediate conviction—this was the first time I had prayed about this job. I initially said no but failed to consider God’s plan. I ultimately accepted the job the following day.
Just one day later, Rachel was laid off from her job. Despite this unexpected turn of events, we weren’t stressed, as God’s plan became more evident. iCRYO opened 16 months after our initially expected opening date but opened on the day God intended. And Rachel does an amazing job managing the business. She’s the heartbeat of iCRYO. We feel blessed and thankful for that lunch, and we’re grateful for a God in whom we can place our trust.
