Tomorrow’s Big Day: Prairie Fire
I’ve been anticipating tomorrow’s Prairie Fire Half Marathon for 3 years. I ran my best half marathon at Prairie Fire in October 2017, setting a PR of 1:38:25. I was in the best shape of my life at that time while looking forward to a big year of goal-crushing in 2018. That was all derailed due to a car accident on January 3, 2018. The injuries sustained by the drunk driver left my spine in shambles.

Three years later, I’m ready to roll again. Two years of DDP Yoga, cryotherapy and daily rehab work has brought me back to where I am today. I passed on intrusive surgery which has paid off. I’m fully recovered now and have a handful of 5k and 10k races under my belt. I’ve ran a virtual half, but virtual races lack many elements of an actual race. This race will serve as my next “level-up” towards future running goals. One thing is for sure, I will empty the tank and leave everything I have on the course tomorrow.
Good luck tomorrow to all those racing and a big thank you to all the volunteers. Have a great weekend y’all. Go get it!
