Spring Prairie Fire (Virtual Race) Half-Marathon

Like everything else in the world, COVID has disrupted the race world. I was supposed to run the Spring Prairie Fire Half Marathon on Sunday. The race has been converted into a virtual event, like so many other races. This was going to be my second half-marathon since the car accident with a goal of 1:48:00 or less. I wrote it down on January 1, 2020 with my other annual goals.

I decided to make today my virtual race day. I woke up at my usual 4:30am to warm up and then got after it right after sunrise. I was able to maintain a much faster pace than I expected, finishing the thing at 1:39:26. My goal for the fall Prairie Fire was supposed to be 1:43:00; my current half PR is 1:38:25. I didn’t think I would be within striking range.

The hard work is paying off. I was laying around on the couch in pain at this time last year. On May 20, doctors told me the injuries were permanent and to expect a life of pain. Bleh….. this has fueled my motivation over the past year.
I’m revising my goal for fall Prairie Fire to 1:38:24 or better.
Go get it.
