Next Challenge Coming Soon
I ran my first 100k one year ago today. 62 miles, in just short of 16 hours. In 19 days, I will level-up by running a 24 hour race at KUS 6/12/24.
Why do I do these long runs and crazy endurance challenges? Life is hard. I know that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Phil 4:13). I believe that. But sometimes I get cozy, I make excuses, I get comfortable. And when those excuses kick in, I start thinking about the results of hard work. I think back to when I couldn’t run down the street. That guy threw in the towel anytime things were hard and would have laughed at the thought of running 5 miles. It was a long, slow grind to get here, with obstacles. And none of it was possible without God. Faith + hard work isn’t specific to fitness. If Christ is the center of my marriage and we both work together; we’ll have a strong marriage. Same with parenting, finances, career…everything.
I’m feeling prepared for this race, so I am starting my taper process a bit early to get my body fine-tuned. I plan do complete 15 hours of DDP Yoga, 12 cryotherapy sessions, 6 compression therapy sessions and spend a total of 3 hours in the infrared sauna. I’ll mix in some strength and conditioning while decreasing running to 20, 15 and 8 miles over the final 3 weeks.
Big shout out to Tony Brown and Jake Dunne for crewing last year–it was such a memorable day.
Have an awesome week y’all. Go get it!
