Today is day 635 of my 1000 day running and fitness streak. I only have 365 days left, so today feels like a milestone day. Today’s milestone prompted me to write down my newer goals. I have several long-term goals set at the beginning of the year, but there are a few additions. I also have personal challenges that I’d like to complete by December 31. If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know I firmly believe I will not finish goals I don’t write down. These goals are in addition to my workout and personal goals.

I originally planned for 1550 miles (which would be my highest annual total) but I am right on pace for 2,000 miles. I continue to live pain-free from 2018’s injuries so I believe I can maintain this pace.
One of my 2021 goals was to finish a 50-mile race which happened back in April. I decided shortly after to add 100k race to the schedule. I’ve started training for this race while wrapping up my Pikes Peak training. The dual training schedule does not allow much time for TV.

I’ve ran over 20 miles on a treadmill on multiple occasions, but never 30. It sounds horrible and boring, which is my motivation to do it. Nutrition planning should be easy since I won’t leave the house. I recently ran a full marathon (26.2 miles) inside my neighborhood by repeating the same loops repeatedly, never further than .7 miles from my house. I enjoyed the mental challenge of it.

I’m toying around with the idea of competing in an Ironman in 2023. I’d like to simulate a half Ironman to benchmark myself by the end of the year. The running portion should not be a problem and I can currently swim a mile comfortably (in a pool at least). This leaves the bike portion, and I don’t even really own a bike. I’ll figure it out…and I know I’ll be pedaling slow, but I think I can pull it off.

How are your 2021 goals going? Have you added any?
Go get it.
