50% through my 204 day workout/recovery plan
Back in early June, I put together a training/recovery plan for the remaining 204 days of 2019. I wrote a check-in post when crossing the 25% mark. 102 days have eclipsed since the plan started, so were officially at the half way point. My plan included:
- Run 400 miles
- Continue to swim until I am capable of swimming 1 mile
- 10,000 squats
- 5,000 sit-ups/crunches
- 125 DDP Yoga sessions
- 55 Orangetheory fitness classes
- 3,000 reps on my hyper-bench
- 3,000 reps with an Ab Dolly
- Participate in 12 races
On top of the fitness goals, I also planned the following for recovery:
- 1,000 minutes of hot/cold therapy
- 3,000 minutes of rehab work
- 75 cryotherapy sessions
- 10 massages
- 10 sessions in a sensory deprivation tank.
Here is a snap shot of my progress, through 102 days:
I’m at 50% or above for 11 of the 14 categories. I’m lagging a bit behind on participating in races, but I will easily hit that by the end of the year. There are more races available in the fall than summer months and my schedule is a little less hectic in the fall. I have races scheduled over the next 3 weekends which will level out my pace.
I have not been able to get as many massages or sensory deprivation tank sessions as planned, but I am hoping my schedule will allow myself to do so in the future months.
While I haven’t been able to spend as much time in the tank or getting massages, I have completed more Cryotherapy sessions that planned. Cryo has been so critical in my recovery and managing pain. I’ve ran 344 miles since June because of cryotherapy.
Best part of this? I feel better than I did on day 1 of the plan. I feel better than I did at the 50% check-in. We’re making progress. I still hurt every day. My back hurts every time I sneeze. It’s hard to get out of bed each morning. Despite all that, I feel better and I’m running much more than any point since getting hurt.
I’ll take another look in 51 days when crossing the 75% mark. I intend to crush these goals.
Have a great weekend,
Super-motivated Beast
