Leading DDP Yoga is an Honor

I had a blast teaching yoga tonight for a class of…..1 person. I customized this workout to meet him at his current level of fitness. He worked hard, I can tell he wants it and his effort motivated me. This is why I love teaching DDP Yoga….It’s perfect for someone who might be an iron-man, fitness beginner, physically limited or anything in between. Teaching DDP Yoga also helps me build mental focus. I have struggled with ADD my entire adult life, aside “the adderral years” (which is a whole other story). I get distracted doing anything…reading, working out, praying, conversations. It’s a complete struggle. DDP Yoga requires so much concentration that I can block out all distractions. My brain is focused on leading the moves, calling out queues, breathing, reading the room for adjustments/corrections, maintain class energy and remembering a 60 minute flow….all at one time. The concentration required for those actions simultaneously prevents my brain from wandering. Leading my students is an honor, whether it is 1 person or 12…we’re all working together to get a little better each time.
