Training for Four Miles
Those are my last two, 30-minute treadmill runs. Since I’m running low mileage for 8 weeks, I’ve decided to focus on treadmill speed intervals. My running pace is garbage with all the long runs and ultras of 2022. So now I’m training for a 4-mile race…shooting to run the Superbowl 4-miler in under 29:30. My current 4 mile pace is around 34:30. I’m running 30 minutes, 3 times per week while increasing my pace slightly, run by run. It’s the .1 mph gains that add up…like everything else, get 1% better each week. And like everything else, I’ve found that I stay motivated through the pursuit of measurable goals, writen down and reviewed consistently. I’m also taking this time to increase DDP Yoga frequency to tighten up my core for next year’s running schedule. I don’t want to train some days. Other days I want to hit snooze. Having a plan dictates the task that must be done today. As Diamond Dallas Page says, “don’t just think it, ink it”. I’ll see y’all Superbowl Sunday at Linwood Park. 29:30 or less. Go get it.
