Get Started

It’s all about getting started. Its’s easy to say we’ll do things eventually but we don’t and time keeps moving. Can you walk for 15 minutes? Awesome. Do that 5+ times this week and add minute or two next week. How many pushups and situps can you do today? Just 1? Do 1 every day for a week and try 2 next week. Can’t do one at all? Drop your knees and try one. Bad knees or back? Add in body weight squats. Keep doing this every week with a gradual increase. Maybe try 5-10 minutes from the DDP Yoga app. Do something, get moving. Now imagine what you would look and feel like in 1 year. Now imagine adding harder workouts and perhaps you find something you love, like swimming, cycling, yoga pr running. Now what does 5 years from now look like? How about 10? Side effects may include building discipline and new skills while eliminating bad habits. You’ll suddenly be more motivated to see things through and eliminate quitting. GET STARTED. Many years ago, my weekends were consumed with binge drinking. Friday, Saturday and Sunday Funday. I was a wreck. I couldn’t run to the mailbox let alone 1 mile. I started walking before barely running, with small gains each week. As my fitness improved, other areas of my life improved. A few years later the car accident occurred, leaving me with spinal stenosis. I benefitted from discipline already built while completing an intense 32 month recovery. When I made things right with Christ, he installed a super-charger to that growth engine and provided better direction than my earthly desires ever could. Instead of weekends of binge drinking, I can run all weekend. God is good; hard work pays off.
